About Michelle
Michelle Clausen is a Certified Nurse-Midwife, PhD-trained researcher, educator, partner, mother, and lifelong seeker. She is deeply committed to reimagining how we care for women, birthing people, families, and communities. Her work weaves together evidence-based science, trauma-informed practices, and cultural wisdom to create more equitable and empowering experiences of health and healing.
Her research focuses on maternal health, early life adversity (ACEs), and resilience. She has led multi-site studies across leading universities, developed and taught graduate-level courses on the history and culture of birth, and contributed to strategies that strengthen well-being for both patients and providers.
Beyond research and teaching, Michelle offers coaching and consulting to support individuals and organizations as they navigate pregnancy, parenting, and system-level change with clarity and compassion. Her holistic approach honors the mind, body, and spirit, while translating into practical, lasting solutions.
Michelle is inspired by helping others recognize what often goes unseen: the resilience within adversity, the stories between the data, and the possibilities waiting to be born.
With gratitude, Michelle honors the midwives before her, those alongside her, and all the people she has served whose resilience and wisdom continue to illuminate her work and calling.
